John Wick

I watched the movie "John Wick" for the first time a couple days ago and needless to say i LOVED it. Ive been a huge action movie fan since i was a little kid and this flick was right up my alley. probably the best Keanu Reeves flick since the first Matrix. I dug the movie so much that i decided i had to paint a scene, and here is the final results.....

Im really focusing on  improving my painting skills, especially when it comes to the mastery of color. lately ive been forcing myself to do paintings using a limited palette and with color schemes im not normally comfortable with. this is the latest in the lines of experiments. i went with a triadic color scheme and painted the entire image with nothing but blue, red, and this sick yellow/green color

I saw that another cartoonist beat me to the punch with the whole chris christie in the cheerleader uniform idea, but i guess great minds think alike :). should have some more things to share soon...

Action Bronson.... Again

i really wanted to try out some new custom brushes and techniques with my work because im trying to get my stuff to look as much like traditional media as i can. anyway i decided i should paint Action Bronson again because i did a portrait of him a few months back that i dont think turned out too well. im too big of a fan to leave it like that and hopefully this one makes up for the first attempt. they cant all be W's lol.

also this song, i probably listened to this track 100 times while i was painting this. like i said, im a fan

I actually painted this about a year or so ago for the cover of Akron Listed Magazine. for reasons im not sure of, i dont think the cover was ever actually released but since its been a year i think its time to share. the idea was to show Lebron as a king sitting on the iron throne from the show "Game of Thrones". the twist was  that instead of the throne being made of swords, we made it all out of nba championship and MVP trophies. i actually had a lot of fun painting this and im happy i can finally share it with everybody
